             The Great Practice of the CPC in Seizing the Historical Initiative: Insights from the War of Resist

             〔 Abstract〕The Communist Party of China has seized historical initiative throughout its century - long great prac
             tice, among which the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is a glorious example. To fulfill its histori

             cal mission,the CPC forged its strong central leadership through historical initiative in ideology,strategy and
             politics. To rally the main force of the people, it took root in the people’ s war through historical initiative in po
             sitioning,policy and organization. To grasp the national contradiction,it established the united front for resist
             ance against Japan through top - level design,strategic acumen and political blueprint. To leverage the interna
             tional trend, it expanded its international space through active communication, seeking foreign aid, and strength
             ening cooperation. The CPC’ s four - dimensional interactive pattern of historical initiative within the Party, be

             tween the Party and the masses,among different parties and in the international arena interprets profoundly its
             outstanding political wisdom and strong practical responsibility, demonstrates vividly the significant contributions
             to winning the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and advancing China’ s historical process. It pro
             vides important historical lessons for the CPC to enhance its historical initiative,recognize changes,respond to
             changes,and seek changes in the century - long journey of great changes,while also creats a new situation for
             the development of the Party and the country.

             From Apathy to Awakening:A Study on the Public’ s Political Identification with the Communist

             〔 Abstract〕Through sustained political mobilization, the Communist Party of China ( CPC)built popular politi
             cal identification,a critical means by which it established and consolidated the Anti - Japanese base area in the

             Jin - Cha - Ji ( Shanxi ! Chahar ! Hebei)Border Region and led resistance behind enemy lines during the
             War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression ( 1937 ! 1945) . At the outset of the all - out war, KMT forces
             on the North China front crumbled and governance unraveled,while public attitudes toward resistance were
             largely indifferent—creating a political - identification void in Jin - Cha - Ji. Responding to this,the CPC
             opened up the base area and,following the Anti - Japanese National United Front’ s class analysis,made poor
             peasants,hired laborers,and middle peasants the core constituencies for cultivating identification. It did so by

             integrating residents into mass organizations ( organizational mobilization),raising political consciousness and
             cultural literacy ( ideological mobilization), securing material livelihoods ( economic mobilization), and encoura
